Shimano ICAST 2008 New Product Overview
Irvine, CA 7/22/08 - Shimano introduced its new products at the ICAST show that occured July 16-18th in Las Vegas, Nevada. It took home 5 awards in the 2008 ICAST New Product Showcase Awards including the Best in Show Overall Award. You can learn more about all the new products here.
STELLA SW SALTWATER SPINNING REELS: High-stakes anglers are offered Shimano’s larger size Stella reels with extra durability features – cold forged ceramic coated aluminum spool with propriety spool lip coating and DLC (diamond-like carbon) line roller – plus Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement, Propulsion Line Management System and Aero Wrap II Oscillation.
Five new reels are offered, including the STL5000F, the STL8000SW with higher speed gears for Butterfly jigging, the STL8000SWPG with lower speed gears for Lucanus jigging, and the STL10000SW and STL18000SW.

CURADO E BAITCASTING REELS: Redesigned with a more compact design making them easier to palm and provide all-day fishing comfort, Shimano intros the five new Curado reels. The series includes the high speed 7.0:1 CU200E7 and 201E7, the cranking 5.0:1 CU200E5 and 201E5, the larger capacity CU300E and 301E. The 200 size reels weigh in at 7.6-ounces.
Features on all reels include HEG, Super Free, VBS, plus shielded stainless steel bearings and an A-RB bearing on the pinion gear to prevent saltwater intrusion.

All compact in design with high spool to frame ratios - plus the 50IILRS features a smaller protruding gearbox – they have extremely fast gear ratios (6.0:1 on the TYR 8 and 10 and in high on 8II, 10II, 4.0:1 in high on the 50IILRS) to move lures and pick up slack line quickly.
